NATICK: Alfred D. “Freddy” Tiberi, age 81, of Natick, died after a long illness on Friday morning, January 8, 2016.
Freddy was born in Newton, a son of the late Domenic and Josephine (Glorioso) Tiberi. A 1952 graduate of Wellesley High School, he excelled in athletics, particularly football, wrestling and gymnastics. Freddy enlisted in the Army during the Korean War, and scored among the highest in men’s physical fitness. He was schooled at Virginia’s Ft. Belvoir in engineering and equipment maintenance.
After his nearly three year service with the 175th Engineering Company as a heavy equipment operator, Freddy worked with his father, Domenic, and brother, Donny, at Tiberi Brothers Construction of Millis. Freddy and Donny later incorporated as D. Tiberi & Sons, Inc., and remained co-owners and partners for over 40 years. An avid sports fan, Freddy also loved gardening and was most proud of his Oxheart tomatoes. He was a longtime active member of the Natick American Legion Post 107.
Predeceased by his brother, Domenic “Donny” Tiberi, he is survived by five children, Sheila O’Reilly and her husband Daniel, and Kevin Tiberi and his wife Catherine, all of Natick, Brenda Tiberi and her partner David of Cape Coral, FL, Susan Dahlberg and her husband Don of Ocala, FL, and Ryan Rojee of Bellingham; his former wife, Eileen (Roffo) Tiberi of Natick; his brother, Louis Tiberi and his wife Sarah of Medfield; his sister, Carol DeMerchant and her husband Rollie of Natick; a sister-in-law, Joanne Tiberi of Millis; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Brian, Erin, Kathleen, Kyle, Stephanie, Jacqueline, and Samantha; eight great-grandchildren, Joshua, Chase, Alex, Layla, Julianna, Ava, Jace, and Jemma; and several nieces and nephews.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 12th at 11:00AM in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick. Burial with military honors will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Needham.
Visiting hours will be in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common on Monday, 4 – 7PM.
