PELHAM, NH - Mr. David H. “Tabor” Byron, age 61, a well-known and beloved resident of Pelham and formerly of Tewksbury, died unexpectedly at his home, Thursday morning, January 7, from an apparent diabetes-related heart attack.
David was born in Somerville on October 6, 1954, one of eight children of the late Thomas J. and Beatrice M. (Butler) Byron, and was raised in Tewksbury, where he was a popular and beloved member of the Tewksbury Memorial High School’s Class of 1972.
Following high school graduation, he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and was primarily stationed at Ramstein AFB in Germany. He had fond memories of his time in the service and was proud to serve his country and fellow Americans. Upon receipt of an honorable discharge in 1976, he returned home and began working at Modicon in North Andover, MA, where he enjoyed a lengthy tenure and made countless friends. He moved to Pelham in 1990, and “Tabor” was currently working as a Security Officer for Securitas, surveying the Unicorn Office Park in Stoneham, MA.
David chose sobriety and had successfully completed his sixth year of clarity, during which time, he earned a certificate as an Addictions Counselor. He had worked at several rehabilitation houses during his time as a counselor, including Leroy's Lodge in Tewksbury, and the Link House in Newburyport.
His survivors include his daughter, Danielle L. Byron of Chicago, IL; his former wife Laura L. (Thomas)(Byron) Chapman and her son and his special friend, Spencer T. Chapman of Chester, NH; his siblings, Thomas J. and his wife Mary (Squires) Byron Jr. of Townsend, Marsha “Lindy” and her husband Norman Giles of Tewksbury, Wendy M. and her husband John P. McCabe of Haverhill, Lawrence P. “Larry and his wife Carol (Nawn) Byron of Pelham, Ronald J. and his wife Sharon (Lincolnbach) Byron of Loudon, NH, Wayne C. Byron of Pelham, and Daniel P. and his wife Sarah (Runner) Byron of Hillsborough, NH, Margaret Sheehan of Arlington, MA; his lifelong friend James Dowling of Pelham; his former in-laws and friends, Melvin and Jaison Thomas of Plainfield, IL; and twenty four beloved nieces and nephews; and numerous friends throughout the Merrimack Valley and Southern N.H. region.
