Obituary

DANIEL C. ALLEN, of Halifax, a retired car inspector for Conrail in Boston, died on Friday, June 10th at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was 54. Mr. Allen was born in Weymouth where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Weymouth High School in 1968. He then served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1971. In 1972 he went with Conrail and retired after 30 years. Mr. Allen was a talented musician and could play flute, clarinet, saxophone and guitar. He lived at various times in Colorado Springs, CO, Hingham and Hanson before moving to Halifax 25 years ago.

Husband of the late Deborah I. (Marland) Allen, he leaves his two sons; Glenn H. Allen of Halifax and Sean M. Allen of Hanson. He was the son of Barbara (Wilcox) Allen of Weymouth and the late Joseph C. Allen. Brother of Diane Townsend of Weymouth, David Allen of Hanson and Douglas Allen of Brockton. Grandfather of Caitlin H., Allison J. and Rebecca N. Allen all of Brockton, Brendan J. and Shannen M. Allen both of Hanson.

A Graveside Service will be conducted on Thursday, June 16th at 11 AM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Wednesday from 4-8 PM.
