Fredrick J. Karinska, age 62, of Brockton, formerly of South Boston, died January 8, 2016 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. Fred was the husband of the late Rebecca J. “Becky” (Owens) Karinska. Born and raised in South Boston, Fred was the son of the late John and Marie (Zinanni) Karinska. He was a 1971 graduate of South Boston High School and served in the Navy during Vietnam. He was a dedicated employee for 38 years of Amtrak, Mass Bay Commuter Railroad and Keolis Commuter Services, and retired in September, 2014. Fred had been a member of the Transportation Workers Union, TWU#2054. Known to be bold and stubborn, Fred was also loving and dedicated to his family. He was most proud of how he raised his family to be independent and to stand on their own.
Fred was the father of Christine Painter and her husband Robert Craige of Brockton, John Karinska of Brockton, and the late Brian Painter; loving and devoted Papa of Jillian, Branden, Devan and Serena Painter. He is also survived by his loving, lifelong friend and true guardian angel, Mary Margaret Panajia of Pepperell; and several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Wednesday at 8am for a funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Parish at 9am. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
