Geraldine L. (Curley) Gleason, 87, of Fox Lake, IL and former longtime resident of Medway, MA, died peacefully on Jan. 5, 2016 at Centegra Hospital in McHenry, IL. Geraldine was born in Lynn to the late Dorothy R. Curley and Thomas Curley. She was raised in the Boston area and worked as a bookkeeper until her marriage in 1965 to Thomas F. Gleason, who passed away in 2003.
Survivors include her daughters Amy (Joseph) Janczy and Linda (Patrick) Scott, her grandchildren, Woodrow Scott and Helena Janczy, and siblings Peggy, Barbara, Nancy, David and Charles (Shirley) Curley and Jackie (Robert) Wolfe. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews and friends she made during her final years at Paradise Park Assisted Living. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas, sister Dorothy and brother Thomas.
In her younger days, Gerri enjoyed taking road trips with her sisters throughout the U.S. and also travelled solo in Europe, where she became lifelong friends with a German couple and spent a month at a Spanish language institute. She had an excellent sense of humor and liked watching movies, listening to music, bowling and spending time with family and friends.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Monday Jan. 11 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington Street in Norwood. Interment will follow at Knollwood Cemetery, 321 High Street in Canton.
