John "Rats" Grant, 66 of Quincy. Devoted Dad and Caring Friend died January 3, after a long, courageous fight with cancer. Throughout his often painful battle with his illness John never lost his infectious sense of humor. John was born in 1950 to parents Mary and Edward Grant and was raised in South Boston. John attended ‘Southie’ High. He was an accredited Security Guard for over 15 years. He was also a lifelong core member of the ‘Barracudas’, a group of friends that recently celebrated their ‘50th’ anniversary. John is survived by his significant other, Linda Sidock, Devoted father to Tanya and Jesse Everett, Loving brother to Patty Sampson and Donna Kilday, and their spouses and children; Larry Sampson, and Melissa Sampson, and Jimmy, Courtney and Ashley Kilday, as well as cousins. John was devoted to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed. Services will be held Sunday, January 10th, 11am-2pm at Casper Funeral Home: 187 Dorchester Street Boston Ma 02127.
