Roger J. Allen, Jr.
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, January 6, 2016, Mr. Roger J. Allen, Jr., 76, partner of 25 years to Kathleen Holiday.
Mr. Allen was a native of Lee, ME but lived in the Augusta area for many years. He was a Master Mason and a Worthy Grand Patron of the Eastern Star. Mr. Allen served from 1957 until 1966 in the United States Army duty tours included Korea and Vietnam, where he was an advisor. He retired from Civil Service during which he worked for Department of Defense and the Pentagon. Mr. Allen was an instructor at Augusta Technical College. He gave a great deal of his time and treasures to others.
Family members include his sons: Greg Allen of Millford, ME, Jeffery Allen of Homer, AK, Robert Allen New Brunswick, Canada and Andrew Allen of Grovetown, GA; daughter: Andrea Allen-Lee of Augusta; 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; brothers: Ronnie Allen and Albert Allen and sister: Laura Wheeler. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his son: Albert Allen.
A memorial service will be Monday, January 11, 2016, 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 106 SRP Drive Suite A, Evans, GA 30809.
