Obituary

Doris L. (Rouleau) Gregoire, 85, of Manchester passed into God’s hands January 7, 2016, at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home, after complications from a recent illness.
She was born in Manchester on July 27, 1930, the daughter of Albert and Aurore (Desfosses) Rouleau. Doris was a graduate of St. Anthony High School and a lifelong Manchester resident. During her career, she worked as an office assistant for R. Theodore Bananas Inc. and then as a billing clerk, for 25 years, with St. Johnsbury Trucking, retiring in 1990.
Doris served as president of the Catholic War Veterans (Women’s Council), Cub & Girl Scout Leader, was a member of St. Anne’s Guild. She also frequented Precious Blood Monastery. Doris was an avid seamstress, creating theater costumes, wedding dresses, and draperies. She was a self taught oil painter, and was recognized in 1970 as Cook of the Week by the Manchester Union Leader. Doris loved the outdoors and often spoke of climbing trees when growing up.
In 1951, Doris married the love of her life, Arthur A. Gregoire. Together, they were dedicated to their faith and each served as Eucharistic Ministers. They were both heavily involved in MARC (Manchester Association for Retarded Citizens), Special Olympics, and the Rainbow Theater Group.
Family includes her husband of 63 years, Arthur A. Gregoire of Manchester; two daughters, Colette Brunelle and husband David of Manchester, and Pamela Gregoire of Manchester; three sons, Robert Gregoire and wife Cheryl of Manchester, Richard Gregoire and wife Laurie of Wells, ME, and Marc Gregoire of Manchester; many grandchildren, and great grandchildren; one brother, Roger Rouleau and wife Jeanne of Windham; two sisters-in-law, Claire Thibodeau of Manchester, and Rachel Gregoire of Mont Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by both of her parents. The family would like to express a special thank you to their extended family at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home, Alzheimer’s Unit.
Doris will be dearly missed and remembered as a loving wife, mother, grand and great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, January 11, 2016 at St. Joseph Cathedral, 145 Lowell St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed in the chapel at St. Augustin Cemetery, Manchester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Nursing Home, Alzheimer’s Unit, 235 Myrtle St., Manchester, NH 03104.
