Mary E. (Pleasant) Gibbs, 86, of Greenacres, FL died January 7, 2016 at Woodlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was the wife of the late Ellsworth Gibbs.
Born in Stockton, AL, the daughter of the late Harry and Metterine (Smith) Pleasant, she lived in New Bedford most of her life before moving to Florida.
Mrs. Gibbs was a member of the Union Baptist Church and a former member of the church choir.
She enjoyed playing bingo and travel.
Survivors include her 4 children, Barbara Charles of Lake Worth, FL, Ronald Pleasant of New Bedford, Cheryl Gibbs of East Providence, RI and Susan Gibbs of Springfield, MA; 3 siblings, Mary Randolph of California, Joe Pleasant of Delaware and Alice Mosley of Alabama; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Mahalia Hall, Elizabeth Hamilton, Sireffa Pleasant, Theory Pleasant and Barbara Thomas.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 13th at 10 AM in the Union Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Acushnet Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, January 12th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford.
