Karen M. Gonsalves, 77, of New Bedford died January 6, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Edward and Florence (Gonsalves) Gonsalves, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was an active member of the International Church of the Nazarene and was a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years.
Ms. Gonsalves enjoyed spending time with her family and worshiping God.
Survivors include her son, Shaun Gonsalves of New Bedford; 3 daughters, Staci Gomes and her husband Randy, Kathy Gonsalves and Kimberly Gonsalves, all of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Bobby Gonsalves of Hyannis and David Gonsalves of New Bedford; 5 sisters, Pamela Soares and her husband Alan of Fall River, Nadine Gonsalves, Tonilee Latin and Lola Paulette, all of New Bedford and Diane Addison and her husband Roland of Newport; a brother-in-law, Ralph Teixeira of New Bedford; her aunt, Beatrice Fernandes of Fairhaven; 4 granddaughters, Jasmine, Brianne, Ashlee and Brooklyn; 3 great-grandchildren, Jayla, Jade and Adrian; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late John Perreira, Maura Teixeira and Robin Gonsalves.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 11th at 10 AM in the International Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 10th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
