Obituary

Nicholas R. Barrasso, of Nashua, NH, formerly of Medford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 6th, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House. He was 88.

Born in Boston, he was raised in East Boston and was the son of the late Armando and Margaret (Fenno) Barrasso. Nicholas was a graduate of East Boston High School class of 1945. After graduation, he joined the U. S. Army and proudly served until 1947. Following his honorable discharge, Nicholas married his wife Florence in 1948. The two began their life together and started their family in Medford, where they lived for 50 years. An entrepreneur, Nicholas opened Nicky’s Dry Cleaning Service in Medford. He was a hardworking man and was dedicated to both the neighbors he served and providing for his family. Nicholas retired in 1989 and spent his spare time with family and traveling to the family home in Lake Suzy, FL.

Nicholas was the beloved husband of Florence (Pelosi) Barrasso, with whom he shared 67 loving years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Nancy Pagels and her husband Robert of Rowley, Nicholas R. Barrasso Jr. and his wife Susan of Exeter, NH, Armand Barrasso of Reading, and daughter-in-Law Lynne Barrasso of Revere. The loving grandfather of Kerry A. Sabatino and her husband Felix of Reading, Amanda M. Barrasso of NY and Nicolas M. Barrasso of Boston. He was also the loving great grandfather of Gabriella E. and Giuliana R. Sabatino both of Reading. The dear brother of Phyllis Picard, Elizabeth Tripari, Armand Barrasso and the late Gennaro Barrasso. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Saturday, January 9th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion Street, Wakefield, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Nicholas’ name to Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
