Obituary

Roy A. Wasdyke of Melrose passed away on January 5, 2016, at age 64, with his family at his side. Born in Paterson, New Jersey on June 2, 1951, Roy was the youngest child of Bernard T. and Cecelia (VanBeveren) Wasdyke.
Roy held a BS from the University of New Hampshire and an MSBA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. His long and distinguished career in Information Technology culminated in a position with Medidata Solutions as an engagement director and project management consultant.
Roy was a skilled craftsman with meticulous attention to detail, a pragmatic thinker interested in technology and politics, and an avid tennis player. He loved music, and took pride in his sound system and his collection of vintage vinyl recordings. He loved to travel, always eager to see and experience new places. He was a generous and loyal friend to many. Above all, he was devoted to his family.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Johna (Sencabaugh). He was the proud father of two children, his daughter Rachel Wasdyke, who survives him; and his son David, who preceded him in death in 1998. He will be remembered and missed by his brother Wesley and his wife Cindy of Manchester, New Hampshire and Florida; his sister Janet of Rockport, Massachusetts; his sister-in-law Kathryn Sencabaugh and her husband Michael Meehan of Chattanooga, Tennessee; his brother-in-law David Sencabaugh and his wife Janeen of Medford; nephews and nieces Matthew Wasdyke and his wife Rebecca; Sarah Wasdyke; Jessica Meehan; Daniel Sencabaugh and his wife Meghan; Jon Sencabaugh and Justin Sencabaugh; and great-nephews and nieces Madeleine, Nathaniel, Carly, Jed, Lily, and Aidan.
His Funeral Service will be celebrated in the First Baptist Church, 29 Oakland Street, Medford, on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Friday, January 8, 2016, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
