Obituary

Claire E. (Marineau) Houde, 92, of Manchester died January 5, 2016, at Catholic Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.


She was born in Manchester on January 6, 1923, the daughter of Donat and Emma (O’Malley) Marineau. Claire was a graduate of Central High School and a lifelong Manchester resident. She worked as a teacher’s aide and a cook for a short period, but had dedicated her life to raising her children and her grandchildren.


Claire enjoyed knitting and sewing. She loved to cook & bake for her family. She was also an avid Patriots fan. Claire was known to be a bit stubborn at times, and could be “opinionated”. More so, she was very proud of her family and would refer to herself as a “Professional Nana”. Over all, she will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great (great) grandmother, and sister.


The family includes three daughters, Florence Marquis and husband Roland of Chicago, Claire Parker of Belmont, and Melissa Carver and husband Randy of Manchester; two sons, Roger Houde and wife Marie of Henniker, and Richard Houde and wife Suzanne of TN; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; 3 great, great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Florence, Sr. Anne, and Barbara; 3 brothers, Gerald, Charles, and George; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by one granddaughter, Danielle; and four brothers, Paul, Raymond, Donald, and James.


A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at St. Pius X Church, Manchester. Committal prayers followed in the mausoleum at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Manchester.
