Edward C. Garriepy, Jr., 79

Dateline: New Braunfels, Texas

Edward C. Garriepy, Jr., age 79, most recently of New Braunfels, TX, a former 49 year resident of California, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2015. He was the former husband of the late Patricia A. (Mullaney) Garriepy.
Born in Mansfield, MA on August 25, 1936, he was a loving son of the late Edward C., Sr. and Alice (Smith) Garriepy. He grew up in Mansfield and was a 1954 honors graduate of Mansfield High School. While in school he played baseball and was known as a mathematic wizard.
Edward next proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged from duty on October 17, 1958 with the rank of Airman First Class.
Edward continued his education, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts; receiving his degree as an Electrical Engineer. While in college, he was a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Society, the Phi Kappa fraternity, and was co-editor of the Engineering Journal magazine and corresponding secretary for the Institute of Electrical Engineers.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Garriepy had been employed with Strever Corporation, in California.
Edward’s interests included reading, playing golf, crossword puzzles but most of all the pleasure he received when spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted children Edward C. “Ted” Garriepy, Jr and his wife Lisa of Colorado, Tracey K. Pion and her husband Darrell of Riverside, RI and Seannon P. Garriepy and his wife Crystal of Texas. He was the dear brother of Wayne Garriepy of North Attleboro and the late Geraldine Douglas. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Sean Garriepy, Shaylyn Garriepy, Shaine Garriepy, Nathan Dominguez, Keller Garriepy, as well as his great grandson Etzio Leon.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, January 13th from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
A prayer service will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 12:00 P.M. in the funeral home, followed by burial with military honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
