CHICOPEE – Georgette Z. “Noella” (Lambert) Fontaine, 91, a longtime resident of Sullivan Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, January 3, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at the Willimansett Center West Nursing Home in Chicopee surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her loving husband, George, who was holding her hand. She was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on March 12, 1924, a beloved daughter of the late Clement Lambert and Amanda (Remillard) Lambert. At the age of six weeks, her family moved to the Aldenville section of Chicopee where she lived for her entire life. Georgette was employed as an assembler and worked at various companies in the area including the former A.G. Spalding Company in Chicopee, the Springfield Armory, Totsy Manufacturing and Clarks Department Store, both in Holyoke and Ren Electronics in South Hadley. She had last worked for the Choice Vend Company in Windsor Locks, CT. During her leisure time, Georgette enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting and working on crafts. Most of all, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She showered her family with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves her loving sweetheart, her husband, George J. Fontaine. They were married on March 2, 1946 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and in just two short months would have celebrated 70 years of love and happiness together. Besides her loving husband, she leaves her two devoted daughters, Elaine M. DeLeonardis and her husband, Robert, and Susan M. Babski and her husband, Zygmunt, all of Chicopee; her four cherished grandchildren whom she adored, Angela DeLeonardis, Richard DeLeonardis and his wife, Alice, Beth Babski and her partner, Jeremy Bissonnette, and Amy Bult and her husband, Darwin; her dear sister, Lucille “Lu” (Lambert) Champ of South Hadley; her dear sister-in-law, Constance Lively of Port Saint Lucie, FL; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Fontaine and Lambert families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her two dear brothers, Roger Lambert and Edgar “Gig” Lambert who was killed in action during the Korean War; and her dear sister, Theresa Rivet Philibert. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, January 8, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, 413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
