Gerard H. Godin 78, of Second Ave., died December 30, 2015 at Landmark Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Loretta (Laforest) Godin. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Felix and Rosanna M. (Gagnon) Godin. Gerard worked as a security guard for many years at several area businesses including Poly Top Corp. from which he retired in 1981. He was a member of the Cercle Laurier. Gerard was a lifelong CB’er known as Smokey. He enjoyed wrestling, camping, fishing and spending time with his family.
Gerard is survived by his sons Dominic Godin and his wife Dolores of
Woonsocket, Gerard H. Godin of Newport, Joseph Godin of Woonsocket, daughter Evelyn Caya and her husband Gary of Manville, and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Robert Laforest, Donna, Clara, Maurice, Richard, Walter and Gerard W. Godin, and brother of the late Raymond, Aldophe, Normand, Francis, and Rose Marie Godin, Antoinette Lamoore, Bertha Pero, and Mary- Jane Cantara.
A Committal service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 9:00 AM in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham, MA, where he will be eternally laid to rest with his beloved wife. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home.
