Obituary

CHICOPEE – Ronald A. “Ronnie” Gagne, Jr., 87, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, January 2, 2016. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home in the Aldenville section of Chicopee on April 10, 1928, a beloved son of the late Ronald Armand Gagne, Sr. and Olivine (Rougeau) Gagne. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and received the World War II Victory Medal. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. Ron owned and operated several gas and service stations in the area including the Esso on Memorial Drive, the American at the corner of Granby Road and Montgomery Street and the Crown on Chicopee Street. He lastly owned and operated Ron Gagne Automotive Service on Broadway Street in Chicopee Falls. Ron was a member of the Moose Family Lodge 1849 and during his leisure time built several race cars. Most of all, he was a simple man who enjoyed spending time with his family and his many loyal customers and friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Edna E. (LaPerle) Gagne. They were married on June 7, 1952 at the former Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls and were blessed with over 63 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving children, Dennis D. Gagne and his wife, Christine “Tina”, of Northborough, MA and Michelle M. Nowak and her husband, Thomas, of Chicopee; his three cherished grandchildren, Emilie Gagne, Ellen Gagne and her wife, Elizabeth Gagne, and Charlotte Lynch; his two cherished great-grandchildren, Penelope and Phoenix Lynch; his two dear sisters, Constance Waldrop and Pauline Sweet and her partner, Walter Tolpa, all of Florida; his dear brother-in-law, Robert LaPerle of Chicopee; his two dear sisters-in-law, Yvette Lavallee and her husband, Roland, and Alice Houle, all of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Gagne and LaPerle families. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear sister, Joan Cote. His relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 4:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will be private. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in his memory to the Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
