Troy A. “Bo” Yancey, 73, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Pruitt Healthcare in Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and the Rev. Sonny Pate officiating. Interment will follow in the Arbor Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Yancey was born March 8, 1942, in Irwin County, Georgia. He grew up in Cocoa, Florida and served his country honorably as a Paratrooper in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Yancey was a firefighter and an EMT while living in Cocoa, Florida. He moved to the community in 1993 and was a mechanic for Custom Yard Power & Equipment. He enjoyed fishing and at a younger age, he enjoyed riding bucking broncos in the rodeos. Mr. Yancey was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years: Arlie Yancey of Fitzgerald; children & their spouses: Troy Yancey, Jr. of Cocoa, Florida, Bobby E. Garner, II & Courtney of Winston Salem, North Carolina and Donna Bryant & Tim of Valdosta; grandchildren: Jessica Stone & Doug, Bradley Grantham & Morgan and Ryder Garner; great-grandchildren: Madison Stone, Briley Marsh, Macey Marsh and Maggie Stone; a sister: Carolyn Joyce Garris & Henry of Daytona Beach, Florida; an uncle, Clyde & Jeanette Wallace of Cochran; an aunt, Wilma Wallace of Fitzgerald; and a nephew: Troy W. Yancey of Cocoa, Florida.
