Laconia-----Walter “Walt” Albert Geery, age 93, of Cinnamon Lane, Laconia, NH, died on Wednesday, December 30, 2015. He was born on May 27, 1922 in Richmond Hill Circle, NY, the son of the late Joseph Albert and Margaret (Hirsch) Geery.
Walt proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army 95'th Infantry Division; recipient of purple heart with two bronze battle stars. During his career as an electrical engineer, Walt worked in the areas of submarine, space and air sciences. He was an avid skier and photographer.
Walt is survived by his wife of 3 1/2 years, Marjorie (Paquette) Geery; five sons, Daniel Geery, John Geery, Kevin Geery, Thomas Geery and Brian Geery; two daughters, Carol Ann Wagonlander and Eileen Celis; eleven grandchildren, Emmett, Aaron, Emily, Julia, Brooke, Jenna, Amber, Stephanie, Ruth, Sean and Sheila and 7 great grandchildren. Walt is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Walt was predeceased by his first wife of 56 years Ruth M. Geery, who passed away in 2001 and his sister Margaret Winans who passed in 2014.
Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 10:00AM-12:00PM at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, NH, using the Carriage House entrance.
A Graveside Service will follow at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH promptly at 2:00PM.
