Obituary

Eleanor (Mazeiko) Donati, 91, born in Brockton, MA, summered at Horseneck Beach in Westport, MA until making Horseneck her permanent home in 1992, graciously left this world on Thursday, December 31, 2015. She joins her parents Konstanty Mazeiko born in Vilna, Poland and Mary (Yerzik) Mazeiko born in Glen Lyon, PA, husband Charles Donati born in Halifax, MA, siblings Alfred, Constance and Carl Mazeiko and so many friends.
Survivors include her daughters: Jean Marie Donati and Janet Constance Donati and her husband Bruce Ketcham of Westport; her nieces Maria Van Saun and Joanna Tobojka, her grand nieces Gianna Tobojka and Amelia Van Saun and grand nephew Samuel Van Saun of Westport.
Janet wishes to extend a special thank you to all of the wonderful caregivers that helped her care for her mother and made it possible to remain at home for so long: Anna, Bianca, Janis, Jessica and Tiara; also Ingrid, Lisa and Karen from Home Instead Senior Care.
Her love was entertaining at Horseneck Beach for her friends and family.
Her first and last jobs were her favorites. Tending bar and serving food at Stacia's Restaurant, owned by her aunt Stacia Leach, at Horseneck Beach in her early years when the coastal defense installation was stationed at Gooseberry Island during WWII. Then in between working for the IRS; being a telephone operator; and at the Brockton VA Hospital where she met her husband. She retired from the Brockton Public Schools, as a teachers aide working with elementary school children. It was children that made her happy her entire life. Mrs. Donati was a Communicant of the former Our Lady of Ostrobrama Parish in Brockton.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, New Bedford at 11:00 A.M.
Following Mass, a celebration of her life will be held at the VFW, 281 Appleton St., New Bedford.
Interment will be private.
