Shawn Robert White died suddenly on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, in Evanston, IL. He was 32 years old.
Shawn is survived and lovingly remembered by his parents, Robert and Janice (Harvey) White of East Bridgewater, brother, Matthew White of Braintree, MA, brother, Michael and wife, Joanne White of Reading, MA and nephew, Rowan White. Shawn is further survived by a number of uncles and aunts, relatives and friends. Shawn is preceded in death by grandparents, Frederick and Jeannette White, grandparents, James and Mary Harvey.
Shawn was born in Brockton, MA on March 25, 1983 to Robert and Janice White along with his twin brother, Matthew. Shawn & Matthew graduated from East Bridgewater High in 2002. The brothers helped propel the schools cross country team to their first State Championship in 2001.
Shawn went on to attend the University of Massachusetts Boston where he graduated with honors in a major in history in 2007. Shawn earned his Juris Doctorate from the Suffolk University School of Law in 2012. Shawn was then admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 2013. He moved to the Chicago area in 2014 as he began work as a Hearings Attorney at Champagne & Albren, LLP, out of Chicago, IL. While traveling throughout the Midwest representing clients, Shawn had the opportunity to see many parts of the country he would not have previously expected to see as he also enjoyed the history behind the places he visited.
In addition to his career, Shawn was accomplished runner and a member of the Evanston Running Club. He enjoyed competing in short to long distance races including marathons. He qualified for the Boston Marathon twice, the most recent time was October of this year while running the Grand Rapids Marathon. Shawn also enjoyed hiking, skiing and kayaking, as he appreciated the quality time spent with family and friends in the great outdoors of New England. Shawn was also a very talented guitarist and a passionate Boston sports fan.
Shawn died unexpectedly in his home in Evanston, IL. Shawn will be forever remembered by his humble and selfless character, as a man of thoughtfulness, compassion and humor and by the lasting impressions he made on people throughout his life.
The family invites relatives and friends to a celebration of Shawn’s life at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, MA on Wednesday January 6th from 5pm-7pm. A Memorial Mass will be held on January 7th at 10 am in the Holy Ghost Church in Whitman, MA.
In the spirit of Shawn’s selflessness, the family has suggested that instead of flowers, a contribution could be made in Shawn’s memory to the Jessica C. Thurston Memorial Fund, a friend of Shawn’s that passed away from breast cancer in 2013. To donate visit: jessicathurstonmemor.ipage.com
