Obituary

Earline Robbins Holley, 86, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, January 2, 2016, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Barry Stephens and the Rev. David Ash officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 6 to 8, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Holley was born January 10, 1929, in Golden, Mississippi, to the late Robert Presley and Nettie Bishop Robbins. She lived in the community most of her life, moving to Georgia in 1951. She worked as a nurse’s aide for The Colony Home and for Modern Fibers as a twister and spinner. Mrs. Holley was a member of The Church of Nazarene. From the very beginning, God had big plans for Granny. He handpicked her and placed her in the lives of two common people for parents. From that set of struggling, hard working parents developed a humble, giving lady who has blessed more than can be counted. She has been a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a granny, a friend, a cook, a laborer, a fighter, a giver, a winner, a rock, and the list goes on. The most important title she holds is that she is truly a child of God. Mom/Granny had never known riches of gold but is by far the richest person we have ever known. She has led a life proclaiming her blessings as her wealth. She has suffered many hardships that were so undeserved. God’s strength and deliverance has always allowed her to rise above and march on. Mom/Granny was a sounding board to so many because she loved you no matter what. She never judged you, maybe she did not like what you said or did, but her prayers are what you will feel, not criticism. She is by far the strongest person we have ever known. Every ounce of her strength came from God, her roots, and her family. She made us want to be a better person. Mom/Granny is the greatest. There could never be another. Our wish is that everyone in the world could have someone in their life as special to them as Mom/Granny is to us. The whole world is a better place because of her. Mom/Granny, We Love You more than you could ever know.

She is survived by her children: Bobby Holley & Darlene of Kathleen, Jewitte Kelley & Mike of Fitzgerald and Hazel Livingston & David of Lexington, South Carolina; a daughter-in-law: Lain Holley of Fitzgerald; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and a sister: Ruby Hamblin & James of Baldwyn, Mississippi. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Gordon Edgar Holley; two sons: Jessie Holley & his wife Cheryl and Jackie Holley and a brother: Early Robbins.
