Obituary

CHICOPEE – David M. Gajewski, 64, a longtime resident of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, December 29, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Springfield on January 25, 1951, a beloved son of the late Henry W. Gajewski and Yvonne L. (Bourque) Gajewski. He was raised in Chicopee Falls, graduated from Chicopee schools and lived in Chicopee most of his life. He furthered his education and received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts. He later received his Master’s Degree in Education from Westfield State Teacher’s College, now Westfield University. He was employed by the Springfield School Department as a Special Education Teacher. During his leisure time, David enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed playing his guitar and especially enjoyed fishing at Lake Willoughby in Westmore, Vermont. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his loving brother-in-law, Bruce J. Collins who was Called Home on March 23, 2002. He leaves his loving brother, John Gajewski and his wife, Lek, of Longmont, CO; his loving sister, Gail Collins of Belchertown; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Gajewski and Bourque families. His funeral will be private at the convenience of his family. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
