NATICK: Daniel J. Leone, age 95, a longtime Natick resident, died peacefully on December 28, 2015, at Countryside Healthcare in Milford. Daniel also resided at Cornerstone Assisted living in Milford since May of this year. He had been the devoted husband of the late Alice G. (Cook) Leone for 62 years.
Born in San Donato, Italy, he was a son of the late Loreto and Antonia (Antonellis) Leone. The family immigrated to the United States and settled in Brighton when Daniel was a boy. He was a graduate of Brighton High School and served with the US Army during WWII. A Staff Sergeant, he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, seeing combat in Burma.
Daniel earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University and was employed for over thirty years with the Arthur D. Little Company in Cambridge, retiring as a Contract Administrator. He and Alice raised their family in Natick, and after his retirement in 1975, moved to Brewster where Daniel enjoyed tending his gardens. They returned to Natick to be near family in 2000.
Predeceased by Alice in 2006, and their son, Lawrence in 2003, he is survived by three sons, Daniel Leone, Jr. of Natick, Donald and Susan Leone of West Newbury, and Jerry and Penny Leone of Hopedale, his daughter in law Joan Leone of Natick; a sister, Mary Ciampa of Belmont; seven grandchildren, Justin Leone, Melissa Wood, Krista Fullum, Alexandra and Kirstyn Leone, Jennifer Gentile, and Michelle Saponaro; seven great-grandchildren, Domenic, Cooper, Kian, Dane, Max, Nicholas, and Sophia; and many nieces, nephews and their families. He was also the brother of the late Jerry Leone and Loretta and Cesidia Cedrone.
A private funeral service is planned. Donations in Daniel’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave., Waltham, MA 02451.
