Obituary

Robert L. Lamarre, 76, of Manchester, died on December 27, 2015 at Villa Crest Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Coaticook, Quebec, Canada on April 4, 1939, the son of Zotique and Lydia (Chouinard) Lamarre. He was educated in Quebec, Canada.
Robert married Marie-Jeanne in 1959, and worked as a machinist at a textile mill while raising a young family. In 1968, he and his wife made the bold decision to move their family to the United States with aspirations of better work opportunities and a better future for their children. They settled in Manchester, where they raised their family and lived their entire lives.
Robert continued working in the textile industry in the historic Waumbec Mill. He left the mills, and went to work for Associated Grocers, where he worked for 27 years until his retirement in 2001.
In addition to spending time with his family, Robert enjoyed riding on his motorcycles. As a young man, he rode with friends and groups. Later in life, he enjoyed his Goldwing travels with his wife, where they traveled to Canada and the Maine beaches. Best of all, however, were probably his solo rides for his own time of reflection.
He was also a handyman, “Jack of all trades” and entrepreneur having an investment property. He could build or fix just about anything, and was always there to help his family and neighbors with projects, no matter how challenging.
Robert was also a compassionate man, whom took care of many people in his life, and was very humbled at the end of his life to be the one to need care. His strong sense of commitment, integrity, and pride are traits sown into his family roots, and have reaped three successful daughters for which he was very proud and grateful to have in his life. He was also very proud and appreciative for his son-in-laws, and that he finally had some boys in the family, with five grandsons he cherished as well.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Marie-Jeanne (Dupuis) Lamarre of Manchester; three daughters, Carmen Biron and husband Frank of Manchester, Carole Godin and husband Jim of Londonderry, and Brigitte Thompson and husband James of Weare; five grandsons, Eric Davignon of Manchester, Christopher Biron of Manchester, Gregory Biron of Pittsburg, PA, Collin Thompson of Charlotte, NC, and Ryan Thompson of Weare; one brother Jean-Nil Lamarre; and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents; as well as his brother, Jean-Claude Lamarre; and sister, Jacqueline Lamarre.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, January 4, 2016 at St. Catherine Siena Church, Hemlock St., Manchester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: American Parkinson Disease Association, NH Chapter, PO Box 838, Manchester, NH, 03101-9715.
