Obituary

Anna M. (Colfer) Lally, 86, of New Bedford died December 29, 2015 at Hathaway Manor after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Richard J. Lally, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Dorchester, the daughter of the late Lemuel and Mary (Doherty) Colfer, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Mary's Church in New Bedford and was a member of the St. Mary's Women's Guild.
Mrs. Lally was retired from Bank of Boston, formerly known as Southeastern Bank and Trust.
The matriarch of her family and affectionately known as Grandma to many, she cherished spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots. She enjoyed listening to Irish music and was very proud of her Irish heritage.
Survivors include her five children, Richard J. Lally and his wife Nancy of Acushnet, James J. Lally and his companion Lee Allaire of Fairhaven, Maureen E. Chace and her husband William of Franklin, TN, Kathryn F. Freitas and her husband Dennis of Acushnet, and John T. Lally and his wife Judy of Fairhaven; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Megan Lally and the sister of the late Theresa O'Connell.
Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, January 2nd at 8:30 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, January 1st from 4-8 PM.
