Obituary

Peter J. Rose, 58, of New Bedford died Monday December 28, 2015 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Lois J. (Berry) Rose.

Born in Pawtucket, RI, the son of the late Joseph and Pauline (Silva) Rose, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.

He was a member of Haven Baptist Church in New Bedford.

Mr. Rose was formerly employed as a trooper with the Massachusetts State Police until his retirement. In retirement, he was a van driver for Project Independence.

He was a former Pop Warner football coach with the New Bedford Bears and a former Little League coach for Cove Beverage in the South End Youth Athletic Association.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Joseph Rose of New Bedford; a daughter, Raayna Rose of New Bedford; a brother, Dennis Rose and his wife Polly of Salem, MA; four sisters-in-law, Barbara Grovner of Orlando, FL, Gwenneth Clark and her husband Gilbert of Denver, CO, Allison O'Toole and her husband Terrence of Scituate, MA, and Carol Spencer and her fiancée Allen Monteiro of New Bedford; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Berry and his wife Joselma of New Bedford; many Godchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 11 AM in the Haven Baptist Church, 519 County St., New Bedford. His family will receive guests on Saturday morning from 9 - 11 AM in church prior to his service. Arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Haven Baptist Church.
