Ruth Gentry Shaver Yarbrough, 93, of Macon, died, Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Governor’s Glen in Forest Park, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Terry Cole and the Rev. Richard Bearry officiating. Interment will follow in Big Creek Cemetery in Irwin County. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Yarbrough was born August 19, 1922, in Rebecca, Georgia, to the late Smith and Geneva Fowler Gentry. She was a secretary for the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany. She lived in Baconton, Georgia for over fifty years, and was a member of Baconton Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was very active in the WMU and in the nursing home visitation program; she was a staunch supporter of the Southern Baptist Convention. In 2007, she moved to be closer to her daughter and family.
Survivors include her daughter: Earlaine Bearry and husband Bernard of Macon; Grandsons, Bernard Bearry, Jr. of Lawrenceville, Richard Bearry and wife Carolyn, Stuart Bearry and wife Twyla, all of Florida; a great-granddaughter, Taylor Bearry; two sisters, Mildred Hipps of Baconton and Beatrice Brinkley of Tifton; a brother, Smith David “Junior” Gentry of Tifton. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Shaver and George Yarbrough; a brother, Hiram Gentry.
