WORCESTER-Frederick S. Ellis, 84, of 42 Amber Street, died suddenly at home on Wednesday, June 8th by his wife’s side. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Ruth I. (Conger) Ellis, a son, Lee E. Ellis and his wife Amalia of Auburn, a daughter, Lynne R. wife of E. Joseph Croteau, Jr. of Worcester, 2 sisters, Dorothy Mahoney of Southborough and Ester wife of James Johnston of Las Vegas, 3 grandchildren, Lisa E. and Joseph F. Croteau and Amber R. Ellis, many nephews and nieces.
He was born in Auburn the son of Charles E. and Sarah E. (Drake) Ellis, and was an Army veteran serving as a paratrooper and a staff sergeant in the Asiatic Pacific Theater in WWII. He earned 2 Bronze Service Stars and a Victory Medal. Mr. Ellis worked as a dye sinker for Wyman Gordon for 35 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and volunteered for Girls Incorporated for 20 years. He enjoyed hockey and reading.
The funeral is Saturday, June 11th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:00 AM in Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1048 Main Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, June 10th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
