Obituary



WORCESTER-Fritz E. Ullstrom, 99, of 20 Southold Road, died Wednesday, June 8 in Holy Trinity Nursing Center just one week before he would have celebrated his 100th birthday. He leaves his wife of 70 years, Margaret (Carlstrom) Ullstrom, a son, Robert F. Ullstrom and his wife Mary of Worcester, son-in law, Nils Hagberg of Auburn, a sister, Margit Winberg in Sweden, 5 grandchildren, Robert K. Ullstrom and his wife Gaile, Melissa Lacroix, wife of Philip, Karen Avedian and Miya and Jon Hagberg, 6 great grandchildren, Alexis, Ashley, Daniel, Matthew, Jared and Rachel, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, Sven and Ingvar Ullstrom and a daughter, Dorothy Hagberg who died in 1999.

He was born in Sweden the son of Axel and Edla (Bergdahl) Ullstrom and moved to the United States in 1924. Mr. Ullstrom worked for the former John Bath Company as a tool hardener for many years retiring in 1971. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, John Erickson Lodge and a founding member of the Scandinavian Athletic Club where he was the oldest living member. He enjoyed soccer and once played on a team in the Branford, CT area and later for the Scandinavian Athletic Club.

A graveside committal service will be held on Monday, June 13 at 11:00 AM in All Faiths Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Greenwood St., Worcester, MA 01607. LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler Street is directing arrangements.
