Obituary

BEVERLY: Nicoletta “Nickie” Davekos, 91, died Sunday, December 27, 2015 in the Ledgewood Rehabilitation & Nursing Center following a brief illness.
Born in Salem on May 4, 1924, she was the daughter of the late James and Athenosia (Stratigi) Davekos. A lifelong resident of Beverly, she was a graduate of Beverly High School and the New England Conservatory of Music. She also received her master’s degree in music from Boston University.
Miss Davekos taught thousands of children and adults on the North Shore how to play piano at her studios in Beverly for over seventy years. She was also the organist and choir director at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody for over forty years and a past president of the National Guild of Piano Teachers.
She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, James Davekos and his wife, Nancy, Randy Davekos, Debbie Pierce and her husband, Tom, Cindy Davekos Wilson, Jeff Davekos and Kim Davekos Previte and her husband, Andrew; many great-nieces and great-nephews, including, Nicholas, Katherine, Samantha and Christopher Davekos and a cousin, Anita Davekos. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Peter and Sam Davekos.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Interment will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church.
