Frieda Nell (Young) Jones
February 14, 1929- December 23, 2015

Frieda Nell (Young) Jones, age 86, of Anderson, Indiana, died on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at her home after an extended illness. She was born in February of 1929, in Pendleton, Indiana, and moved to Cadiz, Indiana, when she was one year old. She married Fred R. Jones in October of 1947 in New Castle, Indiana. They moved to Anderson in 1963. Together they had three children, Juanita O’Neal (Barry) of Everman, Texas; Andrew Jones (Gina) of Fishers, Indiana; and Ann Welborne (Charles) of West Lafayette, Indiana.
Frieda graduated from Cadiz High School in May of 1947 and attended New Castle Business College and Ivy Tech in Anderson. She was employed by D. A. Shepherd, Accountant, in New Castle from 1947-1950. She was hired by Delco Remy in June of 1950 and retired in 1991, having worked in plants 8 and 20.
Since retirement, she traveled extensively and lived in Fruitland Park, Florida, during the winter months.
Frieda was a member of Bethany Christian Church where she and her husband taught in the 3-4 year olds Sunday school class for many years. She was also very active in the Dorcas and Sarah Circles of Bethany Church. She held dual membership in Northside Christian Church of Fruitland Park, Florida, where she was active in the Helping Hands Circle. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star (New Castle #116), Madison County Home Extension (Country Friends club), and former member of the Anderson chapter of the Mothers of Multiples.
Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, Cleve and Ruth (Vermillion) Young of New Castle, her brother, Frank Young of New Castle, and her beloved husband of 58 years, Fred Jones. She is survived by her three children, six grandchildren (Jennifer Zaman of White Settlement, Texas; Jaclyn Myers and Jonathan and Abigail Jones of Fishers, Indiana; and Christiana and Anastasia Welborne of West Lafayette, Indiana), two great-grandchildren (Nickolas Lueders and Sophia Zaman of White Settlement, Texas), sister-in-law (Delores Hart Young of Anderson, Indiana), her best friend of more than 50 years (Nell Mitten of Mohawk, Indiana), and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be Monday, December 28th, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service in Anderson.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday, December 29th, at 10:00 am at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Bob Bell officiating. Burial will be immediately following the funeral at the Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Mechanicsburg, Indiana.
Memorial donations may be made in Frieda’s name to the Children’s Ministries of Bethany Christian Church in Anderson, Indiana.
