Winifred M. LaBonte
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister
TEWKSBURY: Winifred M. “Winnie” (Gillis) LaBonte, age 74, passed away at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, on Tuesday, December 22, 2015.
Born in Dorchester on March 6, 1941, she was the daughter of the late John S. Gillis and the late Winifred M. (Lyons) Gillis.
Winnie worked for B.N. Corkum Company and the Joe Barry Oil Company, both of Wilmington, and the C.R. Bard Company of Billerica.
Her real career was loving her family, extended family and friends, and giving that love at all times.
Winnie enjoyed working with Helping Hands and other volunteers from St. Augustine Church in Andover by knitting prayer shawls and baby’s hats for newborns at local hospitals.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jesse R. LaBonte of Tewksbury; her beloved granddaughter, Christian “Chrissy” LaBonte of Tewksbury; her daughter-in-law, Suzan (LaBonte) and her husband Mark Sullivan of Billerica; her brother, John Gillis and his wife Dianne (Bordage) of Wakefield; her sister, Anita St. Germain and her friend Ed Beaulieu of Greenfield, TN; several loved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; her dear friend, Linda Bolduc of Lowell.
Winnie was pre-deceased by her loving son, Jesse “Jay” LaBonte, and a sister, Judith Perivolotis.
Calling hours are Monday, Dec. 28, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St., Rte. 38, Wilmington. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Ave., Haverhill, MA 01830.
