She lived in Montreal from the age of two until moving to the United States in 1952. She graduated from Sacred Hearts Academy in Fairhaven in 1956 and from Secretarial School in Montreal, Canada in 1957.
Maureen was a fun loving person, a voracious reader, but more than anything, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished every moment spent with family especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed everyday by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In addition to her husband, Maureen is survived by four daughters, Maureen R. Bergeron, Kerry R. Alves and her husband David, and Katy R. Oliveira and her husband Matthew, all of Fairhaven, and Eileen R. Dunn and her husband Brian of Marion; seven grandchildren, James Bergeron and his wife Magaly Rivera, Kara Bergeron, Justin and Jonathan Alves, Alyson Oliveira, and Samuel and Kathleen Dunn; a great-granddaughter, Mia Bergeron; two sisters Mary Frances Caravana of New Bedford and Margaret Anne Fredette and her husband L. Barry Tinkoff of Dartmouth; her brother-in-law, David C. Ryan of New Bedford; and her very best friend since childhood, Sharon Cazemiro of Candiac, Quebec to whom she spoke with almost everyday.
Maureen was also the grandmother of the late Daniel P. Bergeron and the late Matthew R. Oliveira, whom she loved and missed dearly.
She was also predeceased by two half-sisters, Madonna Allen and Marjorie Beauchesne.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday December 29, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett on Tuesday morning from 9-10:30 AM prior to the Mass.
