
Mary Ann Phelps, 75, Louisville, KY, died December 19, 2015. She had cancer but spent her last months enjoying family and friends.
Mary Ann was born and raised in Jeffersonville, IN. Her parents were Henry and Mary Ann Beutel. After high school, she met and married Ron Bobrow. Within three years, they had three sons—Bob, Jim, and Mike. Mary Ann became a PTA mom, a room-mother mom, a baseball mom, a bowling mom, and a pool mom.
Twenty years later, Mary Ann had two daughters—Mary Ann and Billie—with Billy Phelps. She became a PTA mom and a room-mother mom again. She also added pageant mom, dance mom, gymnastics mom, and cheerleader mom to her resume’.
Being a cheerleader mom lead Mary Ann to a job at Kentucky Kingdom. She managed “The Kingdom’s” volunteer workers. She became a surrogate mom to dozens of kids at The Kingdom.
All of Mary Ann’s kids miss her. But they’re grateful for having had her in their lives and especially grateful that she enjoyed her last months.
Mary Ann is survived by her three sons and her two daughters. Her daughters-in-law are Marla, Kimberly, and Gina Bobrow. Her grandkids are Victoria, Shelby, Nick, Justin, and Will Bobrow; John and Ronnie Robinson; and Jenifer McQuillen. She had five great grandkids.
The family would like to thank Staci Mandrola and Steve Taylor for their help over the last few months. Mary Ann valued their counsel and enjoyed their friendship.
There will be a visitation and memorial service at the Owen Funeral Home on Taylorsville Road in Jeffersontown on Saturday, December 26, 2015. Visitation begins at 3. The memorial service is at 6.
