DARTMOUTH - Cynthia Joyce Hutcherson-Barnum, my best friend and love of my life for 34 years, has gone home to her Lord. She was very accomplished: She earned a 2-year certificate from the School of Fashion Design, performed alterations for Talbots, modeled, got a BA/BS in Marketing with a minor in Computer Science.
Additionally, she was a product manager for Raytheon as well as New England Consulting Group and Coats and Clarke (Coats Viyella/Susan Bates).
Incredibly, she also found time to act as our general contractor, became a local mentor, and an outstanding mom. Unfortunately I now have to speak for her, but I know in my heart that her most favorite role and the accomplishment that she would want people to remember her for was being a "head of household" mom; having raised our 2 beautlful children Dekland, age 21, and Danielle, age 18, and taking care of her husband David.
Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, knitting, needlepoint, crafting, traveling, spending time with the flowers in her garden, and keeping me in line. She definitely moved along the right path in life and illuminated the way for all of us to follow.
She is survived by a plethora of wonderful friends and family of which we are eternally grateful. Cynthia, you were so loved and appreciated. You will be greatly missed.
Cynthia's memorial service will take place on Wednesday December 23, 2015 at 5 P.M. in Grace Episcopal Church, 422 County St., New Bedford, followed by a gathering at the Wamsutta Club. Remembrances may be made to the Food Pantry of Grace Church, 133 School St., New Bedford, Ma. 02740.
