THELMA TAYLOR - OBITUARY

HOLLIS/Union- Thelma Louise Kimball Taylor died Sunday, December 20, 2015, at the Springbrook Center, Westbrook, Maine from Alzheimer’s Disease. Thelma remained the gracious, lovely person that hallmarked her life despite the progressive toll claimed by that disease.

Thelma grew up in Hollis Center, Maine and spent most of her adult life in Union. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, she got up every morning for others – always concerned about her family and those around her and eager to help when needed. Thelma had a way of showing sincere interest in the accomplishments, challenges, joy and sorrow of people that she knew. Always a role model for the power of positive thinking and decency, Thelma was adored by everyone who knew her and will be sadly missed.

Thelma enjoyed family, her flower gardens and life in general. For many years, she began each day sitting a few minutes in her rocking chair with coffee and Bible in front of the big living room window. She was a woman of deep faith which she lived every day but never flaunted or preached. Instead, she influenced by example and was quick to praise others, not judging or gossiping. A strong woman at heart, Thelma was gentle and loving by nature.

Thelma was predeceased by her husband, Carleton Leroy Taylor, brothers Norman, Donald and Everett Kimball, sisters Avis Whitten and Shirley Reynolds. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Debbie) Farley with her husband, George; sons Anthony Taylor and Dennis Taylor with his wife Jenn; sisters Barbara Hanson, Erma Chase, and Althea Smith with her husband Ray; brothers Francis (Franny) Kendrick and George (Junior) Kendrick, Jr. with his wife Naomi; grandchildren Katherine (Tricia) Nicholas with partner Steve McDonagh, Bruce with wife Stacey, Corey with partner Kelly Severy, Dennis, Jr. with wife Danyell, and Damion Taylor with partner Jill Pease and Jeremy Taylor-Farley with partner David Wolfsheimer; best friend Irene Eaton; “adopted” son and close family friend Dale Whitaker with his partner Chris Shott; many, many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Beverly Ham.
