Daryl (Ford) Tomkiel, of Tewksbury, formerly of Whitman, passed away on December 16th, after a long illness. She would have celebrated her 68th birthday on December 27th. She was the daughter of the late Richard H. and Lois E. (Parker) Ford.
Daryl was born in California during her father’s Military service and was raised in Whitman, where she was a 1965 graduate of Whitman-Hanson High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Framingham State College in 1969, after which she pursued her career as a dietician for many years.
In addition to being a Girl Scout and an avid reader, Daryl loved music. She played the piano and she played the glockenspiel in the high school band for four years, as well as singing in the school chorus. She also loved to dance from her earliest years. Prior to her illness, Daryl was active in amateur competitive ballroom dancing. While residing in Whitman, Daryl attended the United Methodist Church and was a member of the Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF).
Daryl is survived by her daughter Andrea Tomkiel of NY, 3 cousins, Cathleen and Curtis Parker of Attleboro and Cheryl Doran of Harwich; also many friends.
Her funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 23rd at 12:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St (RT 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service from 11:00-12:00.
