Obituary

William Francis Joyce, age 79, died on at his home in Plymouth surrounded by his beloved family. He was the devoted husband of Carol Joan (Sabean) Joyce. Born in Quincy, MA on January 26, 1936, he was the son of the late William F. and Dorothy P. (Murphy) Joyce. He was educated in Quincy, a graduate of Quincy High School with the Class of 1954. Following his education Mr. Joyce enlisted in the US Navy where he served proudly on the U.S.S. Willis A. Lee during the Korean Conflict. He worked for most of his life as the owner and President of Boston Tramrail Company until retiring over 10 years ago. William had moved to Plymouth 3 years ago, previously residing in Middleboro and Weymouth, MA. He enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, gardening, singing, and listening to music, In earlier years he loved playing basketball and tennis as well as coaching youth sports. Besides leaving his wife Carol, to whom he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in May of 2016, he was the loving father of Christine Joyce Clark and her husband William of Gloucester, MA and was predeceased by his son Stephen William Joyce of Whitman. He was the beloved brother of Marylou Joyce of Plymouth and the late Priscilla Abate of Kingston, MA. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren Avery, Zachary, and Emily. Visitation will be held in the Davis Funeral& Cremation Home, 619 State Rd., Plymouth (Manomet) on Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:00 followed by a Memorial Service in the Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation; www.wish.org
