Sylvan William "Pic" Hanson
March 21, 1923 to December 18, 2015

Sylvan William "Pic" Hanson, 92, of Chesterfield, died December 18, 2015 at his residence after an extended illness.

He was born, March 21, 1923 in Dugger, Indiana to John W. and Matilda (Butler) Hanson. He was a graduate of Middletown High School. He served in the United States Army during WW II.
He was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church and the Daleville Masonic Lodge #730. He was a Tool & Die Maker for Delco Remy division of General Motors 46.2 years before retiring in August of 1987.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Nora (Fuller) Hanson, whom he married January 1, 1946; his four sons, Greg (Jacqueline) of Cicero, Steve (Gwen) of Fishers, Kent (Cindy) of Grand Rapids, MI; Mark (Carla) Hanson of Concertina, Spain; daughter, Marjorie Imel of Anderson: grandsons, Nathan (Jaime) of Milan, Adam (Maiara) of Holton, IN, Luke (Christen) of Milan, Ben (Amanda) of Marion, Aaron (Cindy) of Anderson, Josh Hall of Grand Rapids, MI; Joshua (Mariah) Trudel of Fort Wayne; granddaughters, Rachel (Peter) Olexa, Wendy Hanson, Kelly (Mike) Mansfield, Carleigh Brizendine all of Grand Rapids, MI; Stephanie (Matthew) Shattock of Fort Rucker, AL; Heather (Eric) Maurer of Marion; Avery Hanson of Davao City, Philippines; 27 great grandchildren
sister, Marjorie Kupp of Anderson and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and a sister, daughter-in-law, Rebecca Hall and grandson, Deloy Hanson.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11 AM at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Dr. Dennis Zirkle of Meadowbrook Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Bronnenberg Cemetery with military graveside rites.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 4-8 PM and Wednesday, from 10 to 11 AM prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted by the Daleville Masonic Lodge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to Wounded Warriors.
