Timothy J. "Tim" Tainsh, 59, of Julien Street, Smithfield, died Friday, December 18, 2015 with his family by his side after a long, valiant battle. He was the husband of Jayne P. (Coleman ) Tainsh. They had been married for 38 1/2 years. He was the father of Andrew Tainsh of West Warwick and Lyzz Tainsh of Smithfield and brother of Alan Tainsh,of North Providence and David Tainsh of Coventry.
Born in Providence, Tim was the son of the late Alexander and Anna (Noonan) Tainsh. He had lived in Smithfield for his whole life.
Tim had worked at Wonder Bread as a Supervisor and Union Steward for 28 years and as a paper carrier for the Providence Journal for 15 years .
He spent 18 years with the Smithfield Vikings as a coach and the Secretary until 2013. He remained a fan of all his former players where ever they ended up playing after the Vikings. He was a loyal fan of all the New England sports teams, an organ donor and a 13 year cancer survivor.
A Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Wednesday at 10 am in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Georgiaville. Private burial at a later date. Visitation Tuesday 4-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville.
