Obituary

In the early morning hours of December 19th, 2015, James Edward “Jim” Krall passed from this life into the hands of our Lord. He lost a long and well fought battle with Leukemia. He was 68 years old.
Born in Los Angeles, CA in 1946, to Don and Cora Krall, he was the 3rd of 5 children. From early on, he was a great sports enthusiast and immersed himself whole-heartedly in any and all athletic events. But the favored sport was football. He attended elementary school at St. Brigid’s Parish and High School at Mt. Carmel, both in Los Angeles. In 1964, the family moved to Ventura, CA where he attended Ventura Junior College. He played on the college football team and had a very impressive record. So much so, that he was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Wyoming where he played with his team in the Sun Bowl. After college he returned home to Ventura and worked in the family business. He eventually started his own successful company under the banner of Allstar Awnings. But the lure of football kept him active in the sport as a sideline to his business. He coached teams at Villanova Preparatory School and St. Bonaventure High School. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Laura Higgins and they were married on December 26th,1969. They settled into a quiet life in Ventura where they raised two amazing daughters, Debbie and Amy, whom he loved coaching in softball.
Jim enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and, later in life, loved to go on cruises with the entire family. He was a great family man who looked out for his parents and siblings as well as his own family. A special joy for him was to see his 3 grandsons grow into fine young men who followed in their grandfather’s footsteps on the football field. He was never more proud than when he watched them from the grandstand. The family is eternally grateful for the care and support he received from the doctors, nurses and caregivers on 6 east at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Cora, a brother, Joe and a sister Deborah.
Survivors include his wife, Laura, daughters Debbie (David) Roth and Amy Krall, his grandsons, Sheldon Krall, Evan Roth and Tevin Krall, a sister, Annmarie Scott-Bensfield, a brother, DaamenKrall and numerous nieces, nephews and family members.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visiting hour on Tuesday evening December 22, 2015 at 6pm followed by a Most Holy Rosary to be recited at 7pm in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street Ventura.
