CHICOPEE – Elaine M. (Nadeau) Piquette, 82, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life at the Holyoke Healthcare Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on November 19, 1933, a beloved daughter of the late Romeo J. Nadeau and Rose C. (Nadeau) Nadeau. She was raised in South Hadley, graduated in 1950 from South Hadley High School and lived in South Hadley for many years before moving to the Fairview section of Chicopee in 1963. She furthered her education and attended the Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Holyoke where she received a Nursing Certificate. During her early years, she was employed as a Nurse at the Providence Hospital in Holyoke and later worked at the former A. G. Spalding Company in the Willimansett section of Chicopee. She then became a stay-at-home mom to raise her family. She was last employed as a cake decorator for the Big Y Supermarkets. Elaine was a longtime communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee where she was a member of the Saint Anne Senior Choir. During her leisure time, Elaine enjoyed puzzles, mahjong, cribbage, dominos, cooking and cake decorating. Most of all, she was a wonderful mother and homemaker to her large family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Richard P. Piquette who was Called Home on December 19, 2002. They were married on June 15, 1953 at Saint Patrick Church in South Hadley Falls and were blessed with nearly 50 years of happiness together. She was also predeceased by her loving son, Stephen A. Piquette who was Called Home on November 9, 2006; her dear sister and brother-in-law, Doris Harris and her husband, Clinton; and her dear brother-in-law, Dennis J. Piquette who was Called Home on Christmas Day, December 25, 2012. She leaves her six loving children, Paul R. Piquette and his wife, Helene, of Feeding Hills, Darlene M. Crosby and her husband, Bobby, of Richlands, NC, Lisa D. Syniec and her husband, Robert, Mark E. Piquette and his wife, Debbie, and Michele D. Dunphy and her husband, Robert, all of Chicopee, and Kristen M. Drake of Wayne, NJ; her thirteen cherished grandchildren, US Army Purple Heart Veteran Daniel Piquette and his fiancée, Edna Olowo, Timothy Piquette (USCG), Brian Piquette, Eric Piquette (USCG), Christina Mack and her husband, Tyrone, Scott Crosby, Michael Syniec, Matthew Dunphy and his fiancé, Ashley Toyfair, Jonathan Dunphy, Jordan Dunphy, Katrina Colberg and her partner, Tami Sakata, Samuel Drake and Benjamin Drake; her dear sister-in-law, Doris E. Piquette of Holyoke; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Piquette and Nadeau families. Elaine will also be sadly missed by her loving feline companion, her cat “Honey”. Her funeral will be held on Monday morning, December 21, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
