Obituary

BEVERLY: Frances D. Staples, 93, died Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. Born in Hanover, New Hampshire on October 29, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Mildred (Eastman) Staples.
Fran was a lifelong resident of Beverly and a graduate of Beverly High School class of 1941 and Beverly Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse in the obstetrical department at Beverly Hospital for forty-four years before retiring in 1987. She also worked at the Girdler House in Beverly from 1987 to 1996. She was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Beverly and enjoyed volunteering at the Second Congregational Church during their blood pressure clinics. She also enjoyed traveling and fishing and loved to take art classes and attending art shows with her teacher, Natalie Batchelder. Fran was an amazing painter.
She is survived by many beloved cousins and dear friends including, Alice Dailey, Matthew Roberts, Pam, Angela, Rozana, Anila, Barbara and Laurie. She was also predeceased by her sister, Marion S. Staples who died in 2009 and good friend Leonard Scott Jr. in 2012.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 4 Ocean St., Beverly at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Friday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be in North Beverly Cemetery along side her parents and sister. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
