SALEM – Fred F. Korzeniewski, 87, of Peabody, formerly of Salem, husband of Frances P. (Hutchinson) Korzeniewski, died peacefully Tuesday morning, December 15, 2015 at the Kaplan Family Hospice, Danvers, with family at his side. He was predeceased by his first wife, Julia (Sakelakos) Korzeniewski.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Joseph and Pauline (Dzierzanowski) Korzeniewski . He attended St. John the Baptist Polish School and graduated from Salem High School in 1945. He was a resident of the city until moving to Peabody in 2013. He was a lifelong communicant of the St. John the Baptist Church, Salem.
A Navy veteran of WWII, he served on the USS Vulcan and attained the rating of Fireman First Class.
Fred was employed by GTE Sylvania for 38 years at the Loring Avenue plant until his retirement and was a member of the Sylvania Quarter Century Club.
Besides his wife Fran, he is survived by one daughter, Linda and her husband Michael Prue of Bradford, two sons, Robert and his wife Danis of Great Falls, VA, Richard and his wife Anita of Boxford, four grandchildren, Scott and his wife Stephanie Prue, Matthew and his wife Susan Prue, Julia Korzeniewski, Taylor Korzeniewski, two great grandchildren, Cameron Prue, Mason Prue, one stepson, Edward Hutchinson and his wife Jan of Gifford, IL. He was predeceased by a stepson, Frank Hutchinson.
His funeral service will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 8:45 AM from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 AM at the St. John the Baptist Church, Salem. Visiting hours are Friday, 5 to 8 PM. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
