Obituary

Plymouth – Robert J. “Pat” Luddy 95 of Plymouth, formerly of Whitman and Hanson, died Tuesday December 15 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of 62 years to Phyllis (Benson) Luddy.

Born and raised in Whitman, he was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Manley) Luddy.

Prior to moving to Plymouth, Pat had been longtime resident of Whitman where he and his wife Phyllis had raised their five children.

He was a proud veteran of World War II having served in the US Army from 1942-1946

For many years Pat had driven truck for the former Luddy’s Express of Whitman, and after his retirement he had continued to work, both for the lunch program of the Whitman Schools and at the Whitman Town Hall.

He had been a communicant of the Holy Ghost Church and had devoted many hours volunteering for the Meals on Wheels program in town.

He had enjoyed listening to opera but his greatest joy came from the time spent surrounded by his large and loving family and he had truly cherished his many memorable family vacations at White Lake in New Hampshire.

In addition to his wife Phyllis he is survived by his loving children Lisa Courcy and her husband Joseph of Taunton, Lynn Sheridan and her husband William of Lisbon, NH, Tina Mitchell and he husband Dana of Dover, NH, David Luddy and his wife Stacy of Avon and Jennifer Luddy and her husband Seth Dunn of Northampton. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jennifer, Elizabeth, Laura, Tara, Matthew, Julia, Michael, Neill, Jessica, Patrick, Ryan, Abby and Benson and his great grandchildren Katherine, Victoria, Cameron, Annabel and Zachary as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Charles, Francis and Arthur Luddy.

His services will be held Saturday December 19 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 AM In the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland. Visiting hours will be held Friday December 18 from 4:00-7:00.
