Dorothy C. (Blanchard) Wood, age 95 of Andover passed away on December 14, 2015 at the Wingate of Andover Nursing Home. Dorothy was born in Lawrence on August 17, 1920 to the late George and Mary (Berube) Blanchard. She was the fourth oldest of 13 siblings and the last to pass away. Dorothy was a former employee of Western Electric. Mrs. Wood enjoyed word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and traveling to Old Orchard Beach in the summer.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Edward A. Wood Sr. with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Richard Wood and his wife Barbara, Ed Wood and his wife Cil, Kathleen Ritchie, Elizabeth Guthrie, and Stephen Wood and his wife Maureen. Mrs. Wood was the loving grandmother of 14, the cherished great grandmother of 28. She is also survived by 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy is predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law Rosemarie and James Doyle, a son Michael Wood and a granddaughter Kimberly Ritchie.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine’s Church of Andover. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery of Methuen.
