Rev. Orland James Gibbons
December 9, 1927-December 10, 2015

Rev. Orland James Gibbons, 88, of Anderson Indiana, died on December 10, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital in Tampa, Florida.

He was born on December 9, 1927 in Waterman, Illinois, to Ralph and Helena (Burdick) Gibbons.

He served 4 years in the US Navy during World War II.

He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Aurora College in 1952 and graduated from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1955. He was an American Baptist Pastor for 40 years with 20 years at Mounds Baptist Church in Anderson. He also served other churches in Brookston, Camden, and Marion, IN.
Upon retirement, he worked for 12 years as a hospital chaplain at St. John’s Hospital.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Anderson, Past President and member of Anderson Noon Optimist Club, Madison County Ministerial Assoc. and Eastside Community Club; member of Octagon Masonic Lodge, Board member of Concerned Citizens for Community Values; Camp Director at Tippecanoe Baptist Camp; and Chairman of New Church Development for Harmony Baptist Association.

Orland is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louella (Beasy) Gibbons of Anderson; 3 children, Steve Gibbons of Riverview FL, Tim Gibbons (Debbie) of Lexington, KY, and Pat Luetkemeier (Maurie) of Alma, MI. He has six grandchildren, Rachel, Pete, and Daniel Gibbons, Max and Will Luetkemeier, and Ryan Marino. He has 3 siblings Velma (Fred) Caudle, Ron (Phyllis) Gibbons, and Elenor Schreiber all of Illinois.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Lawrence Gibbons.
Service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, December 19 at First Baptist Church in Anderson with Dr. Art Jaggard officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Friday, Dec. 18 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Home, 229 South Rangeline Rd. in Anderson and 1 hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

Funeral arrangements were made through Wells Memorial Funeral Home of Plant City, FL and Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Home of Anderson, IN.
