Lenora Day Pope, 83, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Sunday, December 13, 2015, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Frank Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County, with Elder Edward McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow in the Paulk Cemetery, near her home, in Irwin County. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, from 6 to 8, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Pope was born July 14, 1932, in Coffee County, Georgia, to the late Allen Day & Evie Phillips Day Vickers. She lived in the community all of her life and was a homemaker. Mrs. Pope was a member of Frank Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: William Darrell Shuman & Sharon of Vidalia, David Lee Shuman of Irwin County and Terri Lynn Daughtrey & Chuck of Tifton, Roma Faye Clark of Carl; a step-son: Jimmy Boatwright of Hazlehurst; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother: John Allen Day & Carol of Astor Park, Florida; a sister: Ava Iris “Icy” Riner & Raymond of Swainsboro and a brother-in-law: Johnny McMullen of Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Sheriff Leonard C. Pope; her children: Michael Wayne Shuman, Terry Leonard Pope and Kenneth Michael Pope and a sister: Marilyn McMullen.
