Shirley (Borden) Gray Manchester, 89, of Tiverton, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Silver Creek Manor, Bristol, RI. She was wife of the late Edgar A. Gray, Jr. and the late H. Elton Manchester.
Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Philip E. and Christine (Crandall) Borden, she was a lifelong resident of Tiverton. Prior to retirement in 1974, she worked for Raytheon in Portsmouth, RI and she also worked for Portsmouth Insurance. She was a member of the Amicable Congregational Church, Tiverton. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed NASCAR, reading and playing scrabble.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Staff at Franklin Court in Bristol, RI for their care and compassion for Mrs. Manchester.
Survivors include her daughter: Rosalie D. Durfee and her husband David of Tiverton; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and 3 nieces.
She was mother of the late Susan J. Stephenson, Robert A. Gray and Stephen B. Gray, great grandmother of the late Brittany Fazzina and sister of the late Carol Ryan.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Amicable Congregational Church, Tiverton, at 1:00 P.M.
Burial to follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Tiverton.
